Coil a Cup | February 21
Coil a Cup | February 21
What: 2 hour hand building workshop focusing on cups
When: February 21 from 10am - 12pm
Where: in my home studio on Kaurna Yarta, Prospect, South Australia
Have you ever wondered how a cup is made?
While there are many methods to produce a cup, one of my favourite and most ancient methods is to use coils of clay to build the walls of the cup up. By rolling out thin sausages of clay and attaching them to a base - and then to each other - we can coerce the clay into whatever form we like.
Join me in my backyard studio for two hours and I’ll teach you to make your own pair of cups.
My studio is located at home on Kaurna Yarta - just 10 minutes from the CBD in Prospect. It’s a spacious semi-outdoor space that looks out into my garden where I find lots of inspiration for my work. I invite you to join me in my studio for this one-off hand building workshop.
All tools + materials will be provided for you.
You will make a pair of cups using coil building methods (handles optional).
I’ll provide step-by-step guidance - so don’t stress if you’re a beginner, you’re in the right place!
After the workshop I will fire and glaze your pieces.
Choose from a selection of glazes from my studio.
Your cups will be available for pick up within 6 weeks of the workshop.
Please note:
This offering is suitable for participants 18+ only.
Workshops are held in my HOME studio - please be mindful of this as I welcome you into my personal space. I’ll provide you with my address closer to the workshop date.
Spaces are limited to ensure I can provide ample space and support to each participant.
My home studio is located outdoors undercover - please dress appropriately for the weather. In the case of an extreme weather event I will get in touch to post-pone.
