Little Painting 1
Little Painting 1
Little Painting 1, 2026, stoneware, 12×2cm.
When I’m making work and applying repetitive marks I’m driven by a compulsion - something I couldn’t describe until I recently connected the dots between stimming and how I make my work. Stimming is a self-regulatory behaviour that many people (especially neurodivergent) participate in. Repetitive body movements, actions, or sounds serve as a way to regulate emotions and process the world.
In these Little Paintings, layers of colour with rhythmic marks have become a physical manifestation of stimming - moments I spent making actions that were restoring order and a sense of quiet in my endlessly noisy brain.
This Little Painting is ready-to-hang with a twisted wire back.
